Dear delegates and staff advisors,
The student leaders of Iroquois Ridge High School and St. Ignatius of Loyola Secondary School are pleased to invite your school to participate in the fifth Halton Model United Nations Conference held at St. Ignatius Loyola Secondary School on March 29th, 2019.
The aim of the Halton Model United Nations Conference is to bring together students to discuss and debate world issues in an intellectual setting while promoting global awareness and knowledge about the United Nations.
The conference will feature four committees:
the Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, United Nations Children’s Fund and for the first time ever, we have added the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to our conference! The topics to be discussed in these committees will range from broad themes to current events. Delegates will use formal procedures and terminology to dialogue in a diplomatic and collaborative manner to come to resolutions through alliances and negotiations.
Applications will be made available shortly, and country assignments along with topic information will be released in early March.
We hope that this conference will generate a valuable learning experience that furthers students’ understanding of our global environment and inspire them to continue in their path on becoming an engaged citizen of the modern world.
